Hey Y’all – Courtney here.  Last month Zahra shot my maternity pictures and I want to share them with you.  She did a great job documenting me during this special time in my life and I think she really captured the essence of how I feel. Her pictures express my emotions in a very real way and I’m very grateful she shot these for me and poured her creative spirit into them.  I had a great time being pampered and made up by makeup artist Aileen Solis (contact her for your wedding makeup needs!).  She made me look and feel really pretty for the day!  It was scary but also a lot of fun to be on the opposite side of the camera.  It was also cool to include my husband, Doug, in the last half of the session.  We didn’t do an engagement session before our wedding (I’m lame, I know!) and we don’t have many pictures of us together (believe it or not, many photographers suck at making time to document their own lives because they spend so much time documenting other people’s lives), so I’m really happy to have these super-cute pictures of us as a couple.  Doug is really excited to be a dad and has been really supportive and awesome throughout my whole pregnancy.  We’ve grown very close through this whole process and I can’t wait to start this new chapter with him.  I know we will love looking back on these pictures years from now, and our daughter will love seeing them  when she grows up, too.  Zahra, thank you for this beautiful gift.  I will cherish them always.

Doug thought it would be funny to have a picture that said “Candler Park, Yo” – so we took this one especially for him. :)

Here are more of our faves from our family session with Marco, Cameron, Lola, & Rocco. Like most of our sessions, this one didn’t feel like work at all. We chased the little ones all over the playground and the next thing we knew the session was over. :(  We are head over heels in love with family sessions now!! We know we’ve said it before but thinking about the little ones looking back at these images as adults is priceless to us.

Meet Baby Carter!! We loved this session so much! Even though Baby Carter was a little mad at us for interrupting precious time he could have been snuggling in his Mommy’s arms…we think we worked it out.  It brings a smile to our face thinking of him looking at these when he’s older. We hope he loves these portraits of himself as much as we do! Check him out!

This first picture is how we could tell he wasn’t happy with us! LOL!

He’s like, “Whatchu looking at!” LOVE this shot! :)

Like the last maternity session we posted, this one is just as special to me (Courtney).  This session is about my other best friend, Jennifer, and the documenting of her 2nd pregnancy.

Jennifer is so special to me because we have been friends for 22 years.  I met her on the very first day that I moved into my new neighborhood in Alabama when I was 8 years old.  She lived about 6 houses down from me.  I was outside riding my bike with the ever-so-cool red glitter banana seat.  Jennifer was outside in her yard and as I was about to ride past her, she stopped me.  Here is how that conversation went:

Jennifer: Hey!! How old are you?

Courtney:  I’m 8.

Jennifer: Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I’m 8, too!!  What grade are you in?

Courtney:  The 3rd grade.

Jennifer: Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I’m in the 3rd grade, too!!!

From that moment on, we became best friends.  That was 22 years ago and she has been such a huge part of my life ever since (even though I moved away from Birmingham when I was 17).

So Zahra and I couldn’t have been more excited and more honored to be able to go document Jennifer’s 2nd pregnancy.  We drove to Jennifer’s house, just outside of Birmingham, and did a session with Jennifer and her belly and we also included her 3-year-old son and her husband, so this is a mixture of a family/maternity session.

We don’t usually showcase client slide shows on our blog (we show still images instead), but we loved this slide show so much that we decided to break that rule and share it with all of you.  We think it is such a raw and telling display of something that we can all relate to: the family bond.  Some of these images bring tears to my eyes (probably because I know and love Jennifer), but I think anyone can relate to the strong sense of relationship that they evoke.

its as cold as ice!!!

This picture was taken like 10 minutes ago outside of my door. ITS SNOWING IN ATL!!! WHAT! WHAT!  This would have been a great day for a photo shoot. You know? Just to have some fun or even a  bridal, engagement, or family session would have been really cool and different!! (at least for us Atlantans) Too bad the snow makes us want to hibernate and eat junk food and watch movies all day. haha.  Hopefully it’ll still be pretty tomorrow and we’ll shoot…just because.

This is a sneak peek from a family session that we did this past fall. It’s definitely one of our favorites images right now, we LOVE  E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G about it.  We’ve been holding it back for so long and we just couldn’t take it anymore!! Stay tuned for a post on the entire session.  Stay warm. :)
